University of Glamorgan RAE Results

The Research Assessment Exercise 2008 (RAE2008) was conducted jointly by the four UK higher education funding bodies, the primary purpose being determination of the allocation of funding for research from 2009/10. The outcomes were expressed in the form of a quality profile of research activity in multiples of 5%. This allowed for a more comprehensive analysis of research excellence than in RAE2001 where institutions received a single graded score for each Unit of Assessment (UoA).

The overall quality profiles were published in December 2008 and assessment – research outputs, research environment and esteem the sub-profiles were published in March 2009. The quality profiles indicators – were combined to produce an overall quality profile received for each submission were determined by a process of for each submission. The quality profile shows the percentage of peer-review consisting of a panel of experts in 67 UoAs, overarched research activity in the submission judged to reach each of four by main panels grouped according to broader discipline-related ‘starred’ quality levels.
