Postgraduate Researchers Presentation Day 27th April 2012

Are you interested in presenting your work by poster or as an oral presentation to your peers and staff across the University?
Prizes awarded for the best three in both categories
This is your opportunity to gain valuable experience in delivering and defending your research to a judging panel, fellow research students and staff from across the University.
The deadline for abstracts has been extended to 23rd April so if you are considering submitting your extract it is not too late!
If you have submitted a poster for a previous competition or conference you are more than welcome to use it at this event. We will also refund the costs of a newly printed poster if you win the event!

Collaboration Workshop - 21st March

The Education Minister in Wales has repeatedly called for more research collaboration. Funders of Research too are requiring researchers to group together, often outside of their disciplines, to help provide solutions to complex problems. All this against a background of doing a PhD, which can be a lonely and isolating experience. How do you jump from this to engage in collaborative research? What are the challenges and benefits to collaboration?

feeling. This week of events is designed to tackle some of the most common issues research students face. The events all have time for meeting other researchers built-in so take advantage of the oppurtunity to meet new people and to demystify some of the intricacies that you will face along the way to getting your research degree.

Call for Applications to the Higher Academic Awards

This year there are changes to the Higher Academic Awards process including the addition of a second committee meeting in December and the launch of a new prestigious title; Innovation and Engagement Fellow. Similar in standing to a Reader this award is intended to provide a career pathway to a Professorship other than by way of research and will be awarded in recognition of excellence in enterprise-related activities.

Students, academics, artists and designers will gather on 18 and 19 November 2011 at the Royal College of Art for the inaugural student-led research conference to discover the pioneering work taking place across a multitude of disciplines within art and design. The two day conference will explore innovative areas in both Fine Art and Design research through a variety of modes of presentation.

Glamorgan research is among the best published by Emerald

A recently published article by three members of University of Glamorgan staff has been selected as one of the best articles published by Emerald.
Juliet Norton, Executive Editor of Emerald Group Publishing Limited, said that:
“We select a number of the best articles that are published by Emerald and prepare a review of the main themes contained in the piece. All reviews will appear in the Emerald database as well as in a journal called Development and Learning in Organizations. In so doing, we hope to highlight the best work in the journals and disseminate the original articles further”
