About Research

Since 1992, when the Institution achieved University status, Glamorgan as a Higher Education Institution has established research credibility both nationally and internationally, so it is essential that the research strategy focuses on enhancing the University’s ‘substantial research and consultancy profile’. Universities are the apex of the education system, so they and their staff must demonstrate their academic leadership. The notion that university teachers engage in research and scholarly activity, and the provision of high level and high quality advice and information, is widely held internationally, and this aspect of our reputation is an important factor in student recruitment. At its most basic, research performance is an essential component of the enhancement of the credibility of the University and its staff.
